Some free black people had slaves too and some native Americans had slaves too 🤔🧐🤨🙄😒
We learn something new everyday 😮
EvryBody had slaves, even Blck People!! 😟
My great grandmother on my grandfather's side was mixed with Cherokee. She was named Cherokee. Knowing that the indians also enslaved is sad. I wish we could have met her to hear more
AWESOME FINDING !!!
The same way most people don't know that some Africans also had white slaves at some point.
There were BLACK slave owners too so NOTHING surprises me anymore!
Another point - Freedmen are not necessarily descendants. Some Freedmen were tribal citizens because these Tribal Nations owned slaves.
A story that needs to be remembered and told. The Freedmen's history is fascinating and Oklahoma and some tribes are doing everything they can to erase this history.
Wow, I’m so glad history was recorded.
Interesting story
?????????!?🧐🧐
Thanks for sharing your Family History.
Not only did Cherokees have slaves, after Emancipation, they required the U.S. government to pay them for their loss of property.
My family on my father's side comes from the Cherokee Indians in North Carolina they owned slaves and were Chiefs and medicine man. The Harshaw family
Many of us are direct descendants of Native people….. like you said we just don’t know it
I am part Cherokee this is very interesting did not know this part of my African-American history
It’s fascinating that Indians owned ppl?? Or did I miss something???
@DaneCalloway
The Cherokee Nation revolt... Enslaved blacks revolted.
Go to the Mississippi Delta and look at the descendants of Choctaw Indians calling themselves Blacks and/or African Americans.
So I’m wondering if they have a roll book, why isn’t it, or is it available to those who would like to know more of their history. My mom’s side are from Peno OK. with ties to Cherokee, and the Tulsa area. Not much known because my grandmother and great uncle were orphaned at an early age. Besides birth certificates I don’t know much else, but the very CLOSE resemblance of us to the Cherokee Indians I paused the list because my grandmother’s maiden name was Jones and I can see many Jones’s on his list.
Wow! Look at the legacy door that Opened for you. Blessings
My great grandmother was Cherokee and my great grandfather was black (maternal side) and the proof is in the pictures!
Then you have just as much rights to any Native American benefits as any Cherokee as far as I'm concerned.
Awesome!
The Cherokee and several other tribes agreed to practice chattel slavery in exchange for recognition by the U.S. govt as sovereign nations. This ensured that enslaved people would no longer be able to seek refuge with the Native Americans. The more you know.
Every race and nationality had or have been slaves at some point or another in the annals of history, unfortunately the blacks are the ones who refused to free ourselves
Really cool video. Came across this video while trying to find an instructional video on how to make a Hawaiian feather cape.
AWESOME GO CHEROKEE NATION LOVE THE FOOD MY GRANDMOTHER 👵 ♥️ IS PART CHEROKEE 😊 THANKS 😊
I've traced mine and many many other Black 🖤 Americans lineage back to Adam and Eve and found Our Creator... ELOHIM. We have Our true names. We live in Our Ancestral Lands. Our Ancestors are the founding fathers and mothers of America. We are the descendants of Judah and all before and after Him. WE are the Only CHILDREN OF OUR CREATOR... ELOHIM. Just because we have a little African, Native American or European genes does Not make Us them. Our Creators bloodline trumps that 💯 Please trace your family's lineage and the truth will be revealed. Be Blessed
Cherokee nation!
Im Native (Goshute & Hualapai) and I'VE Never heard of Natives owning slaves? ...huh?,..The More You Know I Guess. Interesting🤔🧐 but he also said Of Cherokee "Citizens"❓i thought us Natives didn't become American Citizens until 1924
These family members often times intermarried and had heirs together.
Irish people were also used as slaves in the us
Many native Americans were forced to own slaves by whites
I GOT THE BOOK!! I SURE DO!!!
Because school doesn't teach history. It teaches propaganda.
He seems excited to find out his family was owned as slaves by Native Americans 🤔
We all know the Indians had slaves... Who is surprised?
Blacks were enslaved by it seems by everyone even some Blacks.
Wado! May i ask that Cherokee Nation make a follow up video about how to make a blowgun from bamboo?
Sam Ford report!!!!
Wow interesting story
It is fascinating.
Just goes to show ya.. we the only friends we got frfr...😢😂
They owe the freeman reparations based on the treaties
Bell Oklahoma? That's my last name!
All cultures have come far . Correct 💯😁
